Entry Visa

International students, when coming to China, shall have and use legitimate passports and student visa (X1 or X2 visa).


Handling and Transfer of Residence Permit

International students shall get registered at the CUZ International Students Office (hereafter ISO). International students shall report the accommodation arrangement to ISO after checking in the dormitory within 24 hours. But within 30 days prior to the expiry date of visa, international students shall apply for Residence Permit for Foreigners.

The applicant shall claim the following documents at International Students Office:

1) Application Letter for international students (hereafter ALIS)

2) JW202 Form or JW201 Form (original)

3) Proof of applicant's accommodation arrangements

4) Others And your personal

5) Travel document (passport)

6) hard copies of passport bio page, current visa page and arrival stamp page

7) Confirmation of Acceptance for studies from CUZ

8) Study certificate with class attendance record (if you studied as a Chinese language student) or degree certificate (degree student)

The ISO will issue the documents for residence permit application, if the applicant meet the certain requirements but we do not ensure that students can get the residence permit from local ImmD.


Extension of Residence Permit

International students shall, before the terms of validity of their residence permits or visas expire (within 30 days prior to the expiry of the validity period on their residence permits), with their own valid certificates and documents issued by CUZ, go to Hangzhou Municipal Exit-Entry Administration Division and get handled the extension of their residence permits or visas. Except for special cases, CUZ, in principle, will not issue relevant proofs for the handling of extensions of residence permits or visas for those who will graduate or leave school at the end of the semester. Extensions of residence permits for international students shall be handled successively only in accordance with the duration of study, and in principle, it cannot be extended to a date after international students complete their study. If the international students continue to study at CUZ after the completion of their previous study, a new application for the extension shall be filed.

International Students Office will issue the documents for residence permit extension according to the university's School Management Regulation and student's study performance, but we do not ensure that students can get the extension from local PSB. Granting a visa is the government act of the sovereign state, which will be influenced by government policy, international environment, or personal affairs, etc.


Passport Missing or Expiry

In case of any missing passport, one shall immediately report to the local PSB, then receive a Certification for Missing Passport, and go to the embassy or consulate of his or her country in China and apply for a new passport. One should get the new passport and complete visa application procedures within 30 days after he or she reports to the PSB for the missing passport. Those who have over extended will be punished by Chinese police organs.

Where one student fails to get a new passport within 30 days for circumstances caused by his or her embassy or consulate, he or she shall present a certification issued by the embassy or consulate. He or she shall go to Hangzhou Municipal Exit-Entry Administration Division to get visas or residence permits handled after the new passport is received.

In case international students lose passports before they apply for temporary residence registration, they shall report to the entry ports, and receive 'Proof of Entry', and receive new passports from their embassies or consulates. After that, they shall go to the place where passports are lost or Hangzhou Municipal Exit-Entry Administration Division and get visas handled again.

When their old passports are replaced after the expiry date, the international students shall report that to CUZ International Students office, and present copies of new passports, and go to Hangzhou Municipal Exit-Entry Administration Division to get the new residence permit.


Touring and Family Visiting

When international students, during their study at CUZ, travel abroad or to Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan for touring or family visiting purposes, they shall come back within the residence permit validity term.

When international students, for special purposes, go to places in China which are not open to foreigners, they shall, with their own valid certificates and invitation letters issued by the visitee, or official letters issued by the party to receive, go to Hangzhou Municipal Exit-Entry Administration Division to apply for Aliens Travel Document. Aliens Travel Document shall be used in company with one's passport.


Other Affairs

This is to notify that, where a foreign student submits schooling suspension, schooling quit, or receives schooling expulsion, he or she refuses to have the regular procedures handled or intentionally gets away from concerning management, and fails to positively have his or her residence permit renewed as stay permit in the Entry-Exit Administration in the stipulated time as required; or leaves the school without permission and can not be effectively reached, he or she shall be regarded as having engagement in the activity not in accordance with his or her purpose of stay (study) in China, the Entry-Exit Administration shall, in accordance with the list submitted by the school, by law, declare the invalidity of his or her visa or residence permit, his or her stay in China shall be regarded as illegal, and he or she shall face severe legal consequences.

International students themselves shall pay for the handling of residence permits, visas and the extensions.

International students shall pay attention to the validity term of their residence permits or visas. Any consequences or responsibility arising from the failure to timely handle the extensions before the expiry of validity, shall fall on international students themselves.

International students shall bring passports, residence permits or their copies anytime when going out.

2. About Physical Examination (drug testing required)

1) Zhejiang International Tourist Health Care Center, Zhejiang Provincial Hospital Of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

2) Documents needed for Physical Examination: one recently-taken color photo of 2 inches with white background, passport, FOREIGNER PHYSICAL EXAMINATION FORM, and physical examination fee.

3) No breakfast before the Physical Examination.
