Communication University of Zhejiang (CUZ) is a prestigious, media-focused institution jointly overseen by the Zhejiang Provincial Government and the National Radio and Television Administration. Established in 1978, CUZ operates two campuses—one in Hangzhou’s Qiantang District and the other in Wuzhen, Tongxiang City—spanning approximately 90 hectares (1,355.14 mu). The university consists of 18 academic schools and teaching units, with an enrollment of over 13,300 undergraduate students, 1,000 graduate students, and 400 international students. CUZ employs more than 1,400 faculty and staff members, including over 150 distinguished scholars and professionals recognized at the national, provincial, and industry levels.
Academic Excellence
CUZ offers comprehensive, multidisciplinary education across six major fields: Arts, Literature, Engineering, Management, Education, and Economics. The university is particularly renowned for its academic strength in Theater, Film, and Television Studies, as well as Journalism and Communication—both recognized as Provincial First-Class Disciplines (Category A). Additionally, Information and Communication Engineering and Public Administration are designated as Provincial First-Class Disciplines (Category B).
The university offers two academic master’s degree programs in Journalism and Communication, and Arts, along with 12 professional master’s programs covering fields such as Drama and Film Studies, Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, Translation, Publishing, Electronic Information, Library and Information Science, Music, Dance, Traditional Chinese Opera and Folk Arts, Fine Arts and Calligraphy, and Design. CUZ currently provides 36 undergraduate programs, including 13 National First-Class Undergraduate Programs—such as Broadcasting and Television Studies—and 10 Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Programs, including Internet and New Media.
Global Engagement and International Collaboration
CUZ actively fosters global partnerships, maintaining academic and research collaborations with over 150 universities and institutions across more than 40 countries and regions. It offers joint undergraduate and postgraduate programs in partnership with Victoria University of Wellington (New Zealand) and the University of Bolton (UK).
